How We Work
Our approach is based on an enduring collaborative partnership with the people of Sakata, Malawi.
We meet with villagers to understand their needs.
We mobilize support in the West to provide resources and expertise.
The entire village works with us to build a solution.
The project is completed and villagers take ownership of it.
The new project helps to uplift the entire community.
The Power of VIP’s Approach
Commitment to Our Villages
We have a personal relationship with every one of our partner villages and will remain in those villages until they are on the path to sustainable development.
Our Values
Walking in the path of Jesus, we love our neighbor as ourselves.
Targeting Root Causes
We simultaneously address the six critical needs of human development to break the vicious cycle of extreme poverty.
A Hand Up, not a Hand Out
VIP programs empower local communities to be part of the solution so that villagers are able to meet their own needs.
Local Leadership
Real change comes from the grassroots. That’s why 100% of our development staff in Malawi is Malawian.
Our Personal Connection
We are not distant benefactors, but true partners. Many of our supporters travel to Malawi to break bread with and work alongside our Malawian brothers and sisters.
