Why I Keep Returning to Malawi – by Jyn Albano
Jyn Albano recently traveled to Malawi, Africa, with VIP on a Medical Trip. Hear about her experience providing critical healthcare to people in need.
I just completed my 12th trip to Malawi, Africa with my husband. I’ve been on numerous other medical trips over the years however I have chosen to help lead the medical team as well as support Villages in Partnership (VIP) monthly because of the sustainability that I see and experience every time I’m on the ground. It is not just about the healthcare or the medical trips, but the impact that all the initiatives have on the life of villagers daily.

The philosophy of listen first, act together is obvious in all the initiatives. There is nothing done that the villagers don’t participate in achieving. The Malawian staff on the ground is amazing in knowledge and deeds. We asked some of the women at Khanda (a health center built by VIP that opened in 2023) about how having that health center has affected them. They were all eager to share something about their experiences. Their gratitude to the Lord and VIP was palpable, and can be seen by the smiles on their faces. I look forward to, God willing, serving VIP and the villages of Malawi for many more years to come.
